Oakland Digital Shines…

Oakland Digital (www.odalc.org), a 501(c)(3) non-profit that educates and inspires low-income communities through technology, brought the Hammer down on Oakland, wrapping a successful year with educational classes and capping it off with its second annual Inspiration Awards, honoring MC Hammer, singer/artist Goapele and technology leader Alex Bernstein of North Social.

ODALC staff was in full effect for the Oakland Running Festival / Marathon 2010. Led by ODALC’s community development director, Doris Newsome, we hit the streets getting a unique perspective of Oakland’s first marathon in 25 years. Improving the image of Oakland is one of the goals of the newly formed non-profit, Oakland Digital Arts & Literacy Center.

Under San Francisco (UnderSF)

The Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts Department (BECA) at San Francisco State University (SFSU) interviews Linda Poeng of the Oakland Digital Arts & Literacy Center (ODALC). Under San Francisco (UnderSF) is hosted by Daniell Young & Michelle Ashman. Providing young people with digital media skills and Internet literacy is at the core of the mission and objective of the Oakland, CA, based non-profit, Oakland Digital Arts & Literacy Center.

Winter ’09

On September 19, Asian Health Services celebrated 35 years of service to the community. It was a magical night of delicious food and riveting entertainment. With over 600 guests in attendance, it was a memorable evening. Many thanks to the hard work of Dinner Committee members, especially Co-Chairs Eileen Tong & Rosaline Kiang, and the volunteers and staff who helped make the event a big success!
