July 25: Hear from Google’s Steve Grove, host of the first-ever social media interview with President Obama

Google’s Steve Grove Oakland Digital (ODALC) is proud and excited to have Google’s Steve Grove keynote our July 25th Oakland City Hall event. Steve leads Google’s efforts to grow the Google+ community through partnerships with influential organizations, brands, and public figures. Previously he built the news and politics division of YouTube, including CitizenTube, a channel that curates and promotes citizen-generated news clips from breaking news events.


1224 Harrison, Grand Opening!

Oakland Digital Arts & Literacy Center (ODALC) held the grand opening of their new digital co-working and Internet literacy facility in the Frank G. Mar building located at 1224 Harrison Street, on Saturday, May 29th, 2010.

Distinguished guests that attended the launch event: Jean Quan, Dr. Kitty Epstein, and Dr. Andreas Weigend. ODALC’s service to disadvantaged youth and struggling small business owners in the community empowers them with digital literacy and technology to achieve higher career goals.

Eight new “green professional development” certificate programs, the instruction for which will be offered online, were launched, March 29 by California State University, East Bay’s Division of Continuing and International Education.

Evolution of the Music Business in Web 2.0 – Photos!

The Oakland Digital Arts & Literacy Center’s first public workshop introduced participants to new online technologies, sometimes referred to as social media, and its impact on the digital music business. Through influential speakers and practical hands-on demos, participants examined the current state of the music industry to understand the relationship between technology, music, self-promotion, and the importance of exploring new venues.
