May 2012 – Support Oakland Small Business! #DEDI

EndGame is a full-service retail game store located in historic downtown Oakland.  We carry all kinds of “analog” games—board games, traditional games, role-playing games, miniatures games, and card games. We don’t carry computer games or console video games.

Some of the many product lines EndGame carries include:  Games Workshop, Rio Grande, Mayfair, Z-Man, GMT, MMP, Dungeons and Dragons, Paizo, Chessex, Magic: the Gathering, Flames of War, Reaper, and Infinity.

EndGame is more than a retail store. We have two large mezzanine areas dedicated to gaming space for our customers.  We host weekly leagues, tournaments, and gaming nights. Our Event Calendar has an up-to-date listing of events. You can also browse pictures of events, friends, and customers on our Picasa page.

Our Web site reflects the same care and professionalism that we use in running the other aspects of our store. That’s why it looks good. We don’t use the site to sell games because we’re great believers in the social aspect of gaming—it’s our hope that you’ll come down to the store, hang out for a while, play some games, meet some people, and have fun.   We look forward to welcoming you into the EndGame community.

What a gem tucked away in Swan Market. If you’re a fan of sausage, this is your place. Made onsite with no nitrates, Taylor’s has a wide variety of sausage. The boudin blanc was so flavorful, full of rice and juicy. The Filipino style sausage was reminiscent of sweet Chinese sausage and the Swedish potato was tasty.Prices are reasonable and it feels good supporting a local family run business.

“Excellent. This is Japanese soul food, not the pretentious nouveau cuisine inspired dishes you get for $30 or more, or the faux Japanese food you get at other restaurants. The donburi is the real deal. Served with good hot miso soup, salad and green tea.  A solid Japanese working-class meal.”

Nationally acclaimed Breads of India & Gourmet Curries, finally opened its doors to patrons in Oakland (948 Clay St). Chef/Owner Rohit Singh repeats the formula he perfected at Breads in Berkeley and Walnut Creek – cooking with fresh, seasonal ingredients and changing menus daily. He is dedicated to serving classic and regional Indian cuisine. This new location, designed to reflect the early 20th century Raj era, also presents a full bar.

At the Oakland location, Singh presents curries (lamb, chicken or vegetarian) flavored with extra-ordinary ingredients like pomegranate juice, pistachios, saffron, pine nuts, fresh coconut, onion seeds, paired with breads – tandoor baked or griddle cooked flavored with garlic chive, ginger with jajapenos, spicy potatoes, oriental basil, oregano seeds, fresh baby fennel. Not to miss are the sizzling tandoori specialties which include a choice of lean pork chops, free-range chicken breast, Atlantic salmon or jumbo prawns marinated over-night in a home blend of spices, yoghurt, lemon, olive oil and then baked in an indian clay oven.
